I've completed many ultramarathons including 100-mile distances. I have also got some DNSs and DNFs under my belt and each of them was a learning curve. I am very proud to have some podium finishes to my name, each event provides experience and knowledge that I can take forward to future events and pass on to my clients.
I'm not the fastest runner — and that's important. But I am steady, strong and methodical in my approach to training and events.
My approach to coaching isn't based on trying to turn every runner into an elite athlete. It's based on understanding what it takes to keep moving when the miles get long, conditions become difficult and things don't necessarily go according to plan.
As a qualified sports massage therapist, I have an in-depth understanding of the musculoskeletal system and the demands that running places on the body.
Where appropriate, I'll help you identify areas that may need attention and incorporate practical strategies into your training and recovery.
My Pilates background can add another dimension to your coaching.
Strength, mobility, control and movement quality all have a place in preparing your body for the demands of running — particularly when you're spending hours on your feet.
Ultrarunning isn't just about running more miles.
Training load, recovery, fuelling, mentality, kit and equipment can all influence how your race unfolds.
My aim is to help you understand why you're doing what you're doing, so you become a more confident and self-aware runner.
Whether you're preparing for your first ultra, building towards 100 miles, or looking to make your training more consistent, your running shouldn't be about simply following a training plan based on mileage.
At Ridgeway Active, I combine my ultramarathon experience with sports massage knowledge, Pilates and a strong understanding of anatomy and movement to create coaching that considers the runner as a whole person.
I work with runners who want structured, individualised coaching alongside practical support to help them train consistently, recover well and arrive at their event prepared.
Every runner is different.
Your training needs to fit around your work, family, previous running experience and the demands of your goal event.
Your programme will be built around you, rather than simply taking a standard training plan and changing the mileage.
Together, we'll consider:
Your current running habits and training history
Your goals and target event(s)
Your available training time
Previous injuries and recurring niggles
Strength, mobility and movement
Recovery and fatigue
Nutrition and fuelling
Equipment and kit
The specific demands of your event
As your training progresses, your programme should adapt with you.

I offer ultrarunning coaching to athletes in South Oxfordshire and beyond, with online coaching allowing us to work together wherever you are based.
For local runners, your coaching can also complement my existing sports massage and Pilates services, giving you the option of bringing targetted aspects of your training and recovery together.
My coaching is particularly suited to runners who:
Are considering their first ultramarathon
Are progressing from shorter ultras towards longer distances
Have a 50k, 50-mile, 100k or 100-mile goal (maybe longer!)
Want to train more consistently
Have struggled with recurring niggles or interruptions to training
Want more structure and accountability
Want their strength, mobility and recovery considered alongside their running
Prefer individual coaching rather than a generic training plan
You don't need to be fast.
You don't need to have years of ultra experience.
You simply need a goal you're prepared to work towards.
Whether you're thinking about your first ultra or have a 100-mile challenge already in the diary, I'd love to hear what you're working towards.
