I have been so amazed and impressed by the benefits of regular sports massage to support my own training and recovery that it seemed a natural progression to train as a sports massage therapist myself. I am currently a Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist, training to be a Level 4. After years of lecturing about Anatomy and Physiology, I am enjoying channeling my theoretical knowledge into a hands on application.
I am a huge believer that functional movement exercises have helped keep me injury free during my training so I welcomed the opportunity to train as a Pilates instructor. It was a seamless transition after working in further education for a decade. I really enjoy seeing my clients gain mobility, say goodbye to aches and pains whilst increasing their confidence in their own bodies and movements.
My relationship with running was not always one of love; I used to put more energy into avoiding Parkrun than it would have taken to actually run it! However, life had other plans and here I am, a full convert to the hobby of running - especially ultras. I think human bodies are amazing and I have really enjoyed pushing myself to see what my body can do. I have a soft spot for hilly winter ultras but I love any event that has a welcoming atmosphere and beautiful views.
I am always looking for new challenges and triathlon was something I 'just wanted to try once'. Needless to say I am a few triathlons in and whilst I am not a sleek speed machine, I really enjoy the puzzle of training for 3 disciplines plus the admin of transitions. I am still on a journey of discovery with triathlon, after completing a half Ironman in 2024 the task of a full IM has now lodged in my brain! I have also dabbled in Swimrun, which I really enjoyed as most of my running events are solo so to be able to go through the experience with a friend added another level of enjoyment.
